Thermostat Call for Heat:

The system begins when the thermostat detects a need for heat. It sends a signal to the aquastat, activating the oil burner.

Oil Burner Ignition :

The burner draws oil from the tank and mixes it with air to create a fine mist. This mist is ignited by a spark, producing a flame inside the combustion chamber.

Heat Transfer to Water :

The flame heats the combustion chamber, and the heat exchanger transfers this heat to the water circulating within the system. The water temperature rises to the set point determined by the aquastat.

Circulator Pump Activation:

When the water reaches the correct temperature, the circulator pump kicks in. The heated water flows through pipes to your home's radiators or baseboard units, releasing heat into your living spaces.

Distribution of Heat :

As the hot water passes through the radiators or baseboards, it releases heat into the rooms. The cooled water then returns to the boiler for reheating.

Flue Gas Venting :

Combustion by-products like carbon monoxide and water vapor are vented through the flue to ensure safety.

System Cycle :

The system continues to cycle until the thermostat detects that the desired temperature has been reached. The oil burner shuts off at that point, and the circulator pump stops running. The boiler remains idle until the next call for heat.
